The Vietnam high-speed railway is a proposed railway to replace the North–South Railway between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Construction is scheduled to begin in December 2025 and be completed by 2035.
The high-speed railway will be a double-tracked standard-gauge electric railway with a top speed of 350 km/h.
The line will be 1,541 km in length, reducing the current track length of 1,726 km.
With a top speed of 350 km/h, the travel time between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City take about five hours and 20 minutes. In comparison, the current journey takes between 30 and 40 hours.
Details of the railway technology has not been released yet, but the government is asking for technology transfer from the country that will help build the railway.
I will be posting more details about the railway as they become known, and this site will be post construction updates.

Construction history
A high-speed railway was proposed as far back as 2005, and it has been put on hold reproposed over the last 20 years. My other site at Future Southeast Asia has a construction history of the Vietnam high-speed railway.
