Saigon-Phan Thiet (the train for the Mui Ne beach area)

Phan Thiet Station

The Saigon-Phan Thiet train is a train service from Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet on the South Central Coast.

Phan Thiet is the closest beach that can be reached by train from Ho Chi Minh City. The Saigon-Phan Thiet train is a daily service that is timed for Saigonese looking for a quick break in the Phan Thiet/Mui Ne beach resort area.

The train travels along the North-South line from Saigon to Binh Thuan, and after Binh Thuan there is a 10 km branch line to Phan Thiet. This is one of only two branch lines on the North-South railway (along with Quy Nhon).

Phan Thiet Station is on the outskirts of Phan Thiet City. There is a public bus to the city and the Mui Ne beaches, or get a taxi/Grab to the beach area.

Saigon-Phan Thiet train tickets

There is one train a day in each direction, and two trains a day on weekends and public holidays.

If there are no tickets available or if you want to travel at a different time, you can travel to Binh Thuan Station and get a taxi from there. Baolau will show alternative tickets in addition to the direct services.

Future plans for the Saigon-Phan Thiet train

The future North-South high-speed railway will have a stop at Muong Man, near the current Binh Thuan Station. This means that Binh Thuan will be two stops from Thu Thiem (for Ho Chi Minh City), and the first stop after Long Thanh International Airport Station. Travel from HCMC to Binh Thuan will be reduced from 4 hours to under an hour.

It is not known if the current branch line from Binh Thuan to Phan Thiet will be utilised in some way after the high-speed railway opens.
